This has been a busy summer for us so far. Between work projects and Miss J.’s room makeover, I have not had alot of reading time - only two books for this month. My dad gave me Outliers, the best-selling book by Malcolm Gladwell, a while ago. Finally getting around to reading it and it is fascinating. I love learning the history behind things and his logical explanations. As I had read in a few reviews, his writing is simplified but I am actually liking that.
My other book choice for the month is the classic by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby. I got the idea to reread it (had been since high school maybe) in a round about way. I was up late one night – I occasionally suffer from insomnia... have off and on for years. We have this really odd cable channel in our cable lineup that plays the movie, The Way We Were, alot. I stayed up to watch it and to admire the gorgeous Mr. Redford and fabulous Ms. Streisand.
Of course watching Robert Redford as Hubbell reminded me of his role as Gatsby in the 70’s version of the movie, which is based on Fitzgerald’s book, The Great Gatsby. Also, it reminds me of summer. There is a scene in the movie where it is the middle of summer and really hot... they are all laying around drinking lemonade (or maybe something more potent). I know, my mind works in round about ways!
