I have been looking for some pretty summertime accessories for my daughter, Miss J.  I adore this little Roxy handbag.  Miss J. has a birthday coming up this month and I think that she'd love this.  Here are some other pretty little things for summer girls.

Have you seen the lovely items at Anthropologie which are designed by artist Shelley Hesse?  Hesse, who is a well-known New Orleans artist, has been showing her work in galleries for years.  Her style is unique and I love her nature studies which are done in pastels and watercolors.  They are so pretty and appealing to me.

How cool that Shelley Hesse is working with Anthropologie, one of my favorite stores, to produce some pretty things for their home section.  I’m going to have to pick up the platter and some of the plates.  I am actually considering hanging them on plate hangers in my dining room.  So lovely!

The Lion Who Wanted to Love was written by Giles Andrae and illustrated by David Wojtowycz.  These two have teamed up on many adorable stories for children, combining helpful or sweet messages with lively, distinctive illustrations.  This one is a rhyming story about how it’s okay to be different and that despite those differences we should all help one another and get along. 

Floral statement necklaces are still fashionable this spring and summer.  The fabulous one above by Kate Spade is kind of pricey but they really do come in all price ranges.  They are available in such a variety of materials but I really like the idea of the mixed media styles with some metallic and some fabric parts. 

I can see wearing one of these floral statement necklaces with a plain white linen or eyelet shift dress and pretty sandals.  I would also wear one of them with a plain cream or pastel tee and some dark blue or black denim rolled jean shorts and ballet flats. 

These are some of the nicest pieces that I have found.  They would also look pretty on display on a vanity, dresser, or bedroom wall... wearable art.  What do you think of floral statement necklaces?

Wishing you and your families a Happy Memorial Day.  And thank you to all of the brave men and women who have given their lives for our freedom.  They will never be forgotten.

Our family spent the day relaxing and doing things around the house.  Dinner was leftover barbecue and salads from earlier in the weekend when we had my parents over.  Hope that you all enjoyed the day off. 

Our English Springer Spaniel puppy, Jemma Jane is 9 weeks old today.  She is getting noticeably bigger and is sleeping very well at night.  Leave it to the kids to tire a puppy out.  I love it when dogs cock their heads like she is in this Puppy Picture of the Week.  Jemma is already used to getting her photo taken.  She will actually stop and pose.  Got her trained just like my kids!
